Two women in Islamic attire were removed from a JetBlue flight 487 on Saturday after landing for allegedly filming the cabin crew. They were both arrested by the Police and escorted off the aircraft. The arrest was posted online by a Wired journalist Mark Frauenfelder whose friend, Sharon Kessler, was on the same flight as the women but the video has since been made private after it went viral. The airline has denied the women were ejected because of their presumed religion and says it was it simply paying “due diligence” to security procedures. 28 year old Michael Adegbite, a model, fitness instructor and teaching assistant who campaigned against knife crime was stabbed to death on Sunday, July 19, 2015 after the suspects pretended to be interested in buying the second hand MacBook laptop he advertised on a classified website- Gumtree for 200 pounds. On Thursday, February 4, 2016, the Old Bailey court heard how Mr Adegbite had been lured by the three teenagers, Christopher Nzeh, Montel Ajayi and Isaac Owen-Brady, so they could steal the computer. Thre three were found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. Christopher Nzeh, 18, of Hitchin, was sentenced to 21-and-a-half years in prison after he was found guilty of manslaughter and previously admitted conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a bladed article. A woman who flew into Paris from Istanbul this week was arrested after it was discovered that she had hidden a four-year-old girl in a bag on the plane, Air France said Wednesday. The airline said the child who was travelling with the woman didn't have a plane ticket. According to AFP reports, the woman was a resident of France who was in the process of adopting the child who was from Haiti. "She was apparently in the transit zone in Istanbul, and had crossed the customs checkpoint with the child, when she was prevented from boarding a flight with her," said the source. The woman who didn't want to buy a ticket for the child decided to hide her in a bag in order to board the next flight, after buying a new ticket for herself. "Once on board, she placed the child at her feet, under a blanket, but the girl needed to go to the toilet and was noticed by other passengers," the source told AFP. The 48 year legal tussle over the paternity of Jack Musa Gowon, the love child of former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has ended with Gowon accepting that he is Musa’s father after a DNA test confirmed this. 34 people have now been confirmed dead in the 5-storey building that collapsed at Chisco bus stop, opposite Oando Gas Station in the Lekki area of Lagos state on ‎Tuesday March 8th. 16 more dead bodies were recovered from the rubble yesterday. Meanwhile the number of survivors still stands at 13. National Emergency Management Agency Southwest spokesman Ibrahim Farinloye, while speaking to newsmen at the rescue site at about 7.30pm, said: “Operations concluded at 7.20pm with 34 dead and 13 rescued after reaching ground zero. Investigation on the cause of the collapse has started by various federal and state agencies.”

A Montana man gunned down his girlfriend and then sent a text message about the killing to her ex-husband and others, authorities said Wednesday. Anthony Tobias Fagiano, 35, was charged with deliberate homicide hours after he turned himself in, telling officers he broke into Darcy Buhmann's house and shot her, police in Bozeman said. Buhmann's ex-husband, Christopher Wood, called 911 to report he received a text from Fagiano that said he had shot Buhmann. The text added: "It's best for you, she'll never be faithful." Police found Buhmann's body in her bedroom closet. She was shot in the head and stomach. Fagiano told investigators that he took Buhmann's car after the shooting and went to the woods, where he sent texts to several family members about the shooting. Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun yesterday revealed that 11,000 potential ghost workers have been identified in the payroll of the Federal government and are now being investigated. Adeosun made the disclosure while speaking to state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Counsil meeting in Abuja. According to Adeosun, this disclosure was made possible by the routine audit of all ministries, agencies and parastatals ordered by President Buhari. This discovery comes after 23,000 ghost workers were discovered in February, saving the Federal government N2.29 Billion in salary "On the issue of the ghost workers, of the 23,000 that we have removed from our payroll, we are now investigating another potential 11,000. Again we are using computer techniques to identify those who we need to investigate, so we are now looking at the second batch and as we resolve those cases we would inform you of the amount saved and the number of people removed”she said

A Nigerian man named Chakoli, who was abducted 7 days ago in Rawalpind, Charsadda, Pakistan was safely found by the police and three of his alleged kidnappers arrested. Chakoli was found after a police action in Tungi’s area of Thekedar Anu Kali, Charsadda on Tuesday, March 8. The kidnappers (pictured) were also arrested during the action. According to Tangi SHO Gul Shahid, police raided a house at Tekadar Korona area in Chakori. He added that the kidnappers had demanded a ramsom money of Rs 10 million for the release of Chakoli from his friends and colleagues. Chakoli was running a business in Rawalpindi and was abducted a week ago. He was handed over to Punjab police station after his release.

Power generation in the country has dropped to 1, 580 MW in the last three days resulting in blackout presently being experienced in some parts of the country. Senior officials at Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, attribute the decrease in power generation to a partial system collapse at the Shiroro dam in Niger state and the activities of gas pipeline vandals in the Niger Delta region. Residents of Lagos state have also been thrown into darkness in that last 4 days following a strike action by members of staff of the Ikeja Electricity distribution company who are protesting the disengagement of 400 of their colleagues who failed a competence test carried out by their management.

Four people have been confirmed dead after a 5-storey building collapsed at Chisco bus stop, opposite Oando Gas Station in the Lekki area of Lagos this morning. Spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, says five people have been rescued from the rubble. Rescue operation is still ongoing.
